Subject Gateways on the Web In June 2008, the NCL published 'An Investigation on Subject Gateways on the Web' as the second title in a series of research reports commissioned by the library. The report offered suggestions on how to improve the NCL's 'Knowledge Window: An Introduction to Online Resources' portal, which was launched in March 2002 to help the public more fully use internet resources. In order to find a more effective development strategy and implementation plan for the portal, the NCL invited a team led by National Taiwan Normal University Prof. Pu Hsiao-tieh to conduct a study on subject gateways (SG). For the study, the team analyzed 34 SGs in Taiwan and abroad and organized focus groups to integrate input by domestic experts and scholars. The study will serve as a reference for future SG development at the NCL.
