Situated on the banks of the Ai River, the Kaohsiung Film Library was inaugurated on November 3. Kaohsiung City Government spokeswoman Kuan Pi-ling (管碧玲) noted on October 30 that the library is the first such facility in southern Taiwan devoted to film culture, providing a place for the public to look back on the history and achievements of cinematic arts. Together with the nearby Kaohsiung Music Hall and Kaohsiung Museum of History, the new library will form a popular tourist destination, she said.
Kuan said that while the design of the film library is modern, its content looks back to an earlier time with exhibits of photographs and cinematic equipment. On the second floor is a wall built of 2,700 rolls of audiotape and a lit floor and bridge that changes color according to body temperature to create a unique visual environment. |
