Continuing an annual tradition, the NCL held a series of workshops from June 26 to July 6 to promote use of and participation in the National Bibliographic Information Network (NBINet). Participants came from the 32 original member libraries of the network as well as 26 freshmen organizations. The workshops were divided into four sessions and participation was restricted to two members from each library. The first daylong session focused exclusively on the INNOPAC cataloging system, while the remaining sessions introduced non- INNOPAC systems. The four sessions were attended by 95 representatives from 56 libraries.
Led by staff from the NBINet Center, the classes opened with an introduction to the operation and database structure of the NBINet. Participants then learned how to query for and catalog various types of publication, and how to maintain the database using the graphical user interface, GUICat. |
