Molecular Cloning of Protein Phosphatase Type 2A of Bovine Adrenal Medulla

Catalytic subunits of serine/threonine protein phosphatases have been classified into four main types, depending on their substrate specificity and sensitivity to different inhibitors (Shenolikar and Nairn, 1991). In the previous study, we have shown at least two protein phosphatases type 2A (PP2A) present in bovine adrenal medulla, and PP2A represents the principal phosphatase activity toward 32p-casein and 32P-phosphorylase a. In the present study we isolate a cDNA clone encoding the catalytic subunit of PP2A from a bovine adrenal medulla cDNA library. Comparison of the nucleotide sequence of the isolated clone with that of reported PP2A was performed.
