Since we often meet death in our professional nursing career and understand how lonely and hopeless cancer patients are, it’s necessary for us to help them face death and reduce their fear of it. They can thereby have more comfortable and tranquil days at the end of their lives and leave no regrets for their families. In caring for patients we use in-depth interviews, written records, retroaction, rearranged recording to be aware of and help solve the patients; health problems. The four levels involved are physiological, psychological, sociological and spiritual. After such problems as unwillingness to receive medical implementation, unnecessary pain, insomnia, less interaction with family and hopelessness have been resolved, they pass their endings more peacefully than could otherwise be expected. Since the needs of this kind of patient are multifaceted and complex, we hospice care providers should consider the needs and suggestions of their families when we care for them. Obviously hospice care is not only a challenging job but also involves much team work. |
