Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) had constructed the basic and cash payment database for the Labor Insurance for the past three years. In the meantime, epidemiological statistics of occupational health and safety were carried out, and a web page was established for the purpose of query. However, the interface of webpage is not efficient to generate analytical and instantaneous graphic tables for tactic of occupational events, and the query system produced lots redundancy and duplicated data. This has become a heavy work loading for the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. According to the fast progress of information technology, Organizations that own large-scale database has understood that data warehouse (DW) is a key component for strategic performance of analyzing intra-organizational existent data. DW and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) are the imperative components of support of decision-making, and data mining is a process and technique for calling on serviceable information from enormous DW. It offers the ability of revealing implied message from huge data, and help finding problems in the management. This study had focused on the establishment of a basic labor insurance database for years of 2002~2006, based on the developing methods and technological processes of DW framework. The DW for labor's occupational events was constructed according to the existed database attributes. The system also possessed the functions of OLAP, query/reporting, and data mining. After the system is completed, with the capability of analysis, we expect that it will help us understand the problems and reasons of occupational events or heath in real-time and integrated way, and then we can provide authentically necessary way of health care. The system can also be applied as reference site for government to set up the policies. Furthermore, this DW was designed to have the ability of expandable and extendable architecture. In the future, data standard such as metadata can be designed for the data exchange between different databases. Knowledge database is also expected to be developed for comprehensive knowledge management. |
