In actual operations, stochastic personnel demands of aircraft line maintenanceare usually resulted from flight delays, temporary and unexpected malfunctions aswell as aircraft reassignments. A manpower supply plan cannot meet the actualmaintenance demand and is difficult to be applied under such stochasticdisturbances. Therefore, in this research, we consider stochastic personnel demandsto develop a manpower supply planning model for the aircraft line maintenance. Weuse the two-stage stochastic programming technique to develop the model. We not only consider the stochastic personnel demands, but also consider the temporarymanpower in each stochastic scenario in the model. Three flexible strategies arealso involved in the model. Finally, we perform a numerical test in reference to theoperating data from a major airline in Taiwan. The results show that the model andrelated test results could be useful for references for the airline in practices. |
