Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is considered as one of the most common facial pain syndromes. This neuropathic pain is unilateral sharp pain persisting from few seconds and minutes. The pathogenesis has still not been well defined but most evidence is the compression of the trigeminal nerve root by an aberrant vessels or pathogens. Treatment of trigeminal neuralgia includes pharmacological and surgical approaches to help to improve the symptoms, signs and especially life quality. The aim of this review is to give an overview of the current literature on different managements of this severe pain conditions. |
