Psychological Care of Children and Family in the Critical Care Setting

緊急住進兒童加護病房對病童及其父母來說都是一個創傷的經驗。醫護人員除了提供病童積極的醫療處置以控制病情外，也不能忽略評估兒童及其家人的心理反應。護理人員運用兒童的發展特性協助病童心理調適，並以家庭為中心的原則提供病童家庭個別化的照護，有助於減輕因住院造成的衝擊及促進家庭的調適。

Admission to the critical care setting can be a traumatic experience for a child and his or her parents. Besides providing physical care, the nurses should assess the psychological and emotional responses of the children and their parents. By integrating the child's psychosocial development and the principles of family-centered care into critical care nursing, the impacts of emergency admission on hospitalized children and their families can be reduced in order to facilitate adaptation on the part of the families.
