This paper argues that the ideal model of nurse-patient relationship should be intersubjective; one that is based on the ”therapeutic discourse” in the interaction between nurse and patient. In order to avoid the dependence, in our healthcare system, of nursing upon medicine that makes the technical manipulation of the patient possible, I will show that, through the insight of the ”phenomenology of the body”, the ”hermeneutics of illness” and the ”theory of communicative action” we can provide foundations from the human sciences for an intersubjective nurse-patient relationship. |
