The purpose of this article was to help one preschool leukemia child to face the stress of hospitalization by using play. The child, facing stress of hospitalization, used coping behaviors that included regression and escapism. The cognitive theories for entertainment, role-play and talking-story play were adopted to release the child’s stress and anxiety. Clinical workers may like to use the findings of this article to promote children’s maturation and ability to cope with stress during hospitalization. |
