The purpose of this article is to present the nursing experience of a patient with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. The author assessed the patient's condition by observation, interview, the Gorden functional health assessment guide, and the patient's medical history. The client had four nursing problems: sleep pattern disturbance, self-care deficit, hopelessness, and high risk of suffocation.The author used nursing process and caring behavior theory to improve and support the patient during acute physical and psychological stages. Nursing intervention was also performed to optimize the patient's comfort and safety. |
