Falls are linked to increased morbidity and higher health care costs. Patient falls is a major factor causing stress in nursing staff in the cost and quality-oriented 21st century. This article offers four new concepts on falls, including (1) fall risk factors identified by survey, (2) fall indicators introduced by the Maryland Hospitals Association Quality Indicators Project, (3) introduction to the nursing diagnosis “unintentional injury risk: fall”, (4) classification listed by nursing interventions and nursing outcomes for falls; in on attempt to enhance nursing staff's afety providing capabilities which may further prevent falls for hospitalized patients. |
