Reading Brings Happiness to Taiwan

本館肩負推動全國閱讀風氣之使命，自2011年起每年發布臺灣民眾的閱讀習慣與興趣調查報告，2013年持續與五都圖書館、17縣市文化局（處）合作，進行2012年臺灣民眾借閱圖書之統計，並分析其閱讀偏好。調查結果發現臺灣民眾使用公共圖書館的服務、借閱圖書的冊數或人次，均較2011年增加（借閱人次增加13萬5,783人次、借閱冊數增加452萬2,490冊），顯示國人的閱讀習慣一年比一年好，而國人的閱讀興趣呈現多元樣貌，並能反映社會發展脈動。

The NCL has the mission of promoting good reading habits throughout the country. Starting from 2011, the NCL has conducted annual surveys on the reading habits and interests of the Taiwanese public, and subsequently publishes the survey results. In 2013, in coordination with the five municipal libraries and the Bureau of Cultural Affairs of 17 counties and cities, the NCL once again conducted its survey on the reading habits of the people in Taiwan based on the statistics of library materials circulated in 2012. The analysis showed that concerning the public’s use of libraries, both the number of library users and the number of the checkedout materials increased from the previous year (an equivalence of 135,783 more library users and an increase of 4,522,490 checkedout items).
