Hospital Information System Right Sizing – The Practical Problems and Solutions

在本篇文章中，我們針對醫院軟體系統在面臨必頇要用新技術及開發平台轉型時所會面臨到的問題以及相對應解決方法。我們將以資料庫以及使用者介面轉變的角度來思考及討論如何從舊有系統在對周遭人事物影響最小的情況下逐步轉換到新系統，包含如何減低使用者的使用經驗衝擊以及當轉型失敗時回覆原有系統之方案等。我們以門診針劑處方開立、備輸血作業以及手術記錄等三個系統做為實際案例說明其必頇要轉型之相關背景、轉型過程之相對應步驟措施以及轉型完後所達到的成效描述。我們認為醫療作業系統極為龐大，各個作業皆環環相扣息息相關，唯有讓各環節能獨立運作同時能夠融入整個大 系統開發架構，整個系統才夠發揮應有的效益。

In this article, we will focus on the problems when the hospital information system (HIS) faces on the technique and platform right sizing requirement and we will give our solutions to solve the problems. We discuss the issue in database and user interface points of view and solve the right sizing problem by gradually transforming from the original system to new system for minimizing the impact to end users. Meanwhile, we also show that how to turn back to the original system in case of failure. We take outpatient injection drug order entry, blood order entry and operation note system right sizing procedures as examples and illustrate the system background, the entire process, and the benefits of the right sizing. We believe that because the HIS is tremendous, only each part of it works together coherently can the whole system create large value as it should.
