The Defence of Traditional Culture in The Context of Modernization: The Folk Music Society And Huahui in Hebei Province

河北地處京畿，特殊的歷史文化環境，使這一帶傳統文化的蘊藏非常豐富。在今天社會的現代化轉型過程中，傳統文化仍以其頑強的生命力存活於當代民眾的生活中。風俗節日、祭拜神靈、慶典儀式、民間婚喪等活動中，各種民間樂社和花會或主持儀式敬獻虔誠、或製造氛圍愉悅百姓，擔負起多樣的文化功能。現代社會人們審美觀念的逐漸變化，也自然影響到了民間樂社、花會的表演。傳統文化在當代社會的強大生命力，昭示其一定能存於現在、流向未來。

Hebei is located in ancient Gyeonggi Province. It contains abundant traditional culture due to its special historical and cultural environment. Although society is in course of modernization transformation, traditional culture survives in contemporary people’s life with its tenacious vitality. A variety of folk music society and Huahui （花會） take on multiple cultural functions in various activities such as festivals, sacrifice, ceremonies, folk weddings and funerals. They can either manage the rites to show devoutness, or create atmosphere to delight people. Naturally, the change of modern people's aesthetic perceptions affected the performances of folk music society and Huahui. But the strong vitality of tradit ional culture clearly tells us that it must be able to survive in both today and future.
