The book of "The Collections of Foreign Ci Poems,"collected and verified by Xia Cheng-Tao, annotated by Zhang, Zhen-Huai and Hu, Shu-Miao, cannot be neglected if the reader would like to deeply discover and analyze the research and contribution made by Xia Cheng-Tao upon the foreign ci poems. This book of "The Collections of Foreign Ci Poems," is the first book of collection of foreign ci poems in the history of China, which adopted the poems made by poets from other countries. i.e., eight Japanese poets , one Korean poet, one Vietnamese poet and Persian Poet, eleven people and 195 poems in total. Among the 100 poems collected in the book of "Discussion of Ci Poems made by Ju-Ran," there are five poems made by the Japanese poets and two poems by a Korean and a Vietnamese poet, respectively. Besides, two poems made by the Persian poet, nine poems in total. Xia Cheng-Tao had selected and commented on numerous foreign poems, among which special importance had been placed upon Japanese poems. As such, this study considers Xia Cheng-Tao as an important figure for research purposes since he had read and accepted Japanese poems. Xia Cheng-Tao had composed the "The Collections of Foreign Ci Poems" and the "Discussion of Ci Poems made by Ju-Ran," and this study conducts analysis on those masterpieces to find out Xia Cheng-Tao's degree of acceptance of Japanese poets, from which four points are concluded in terms of 1) Xia Cheng-Tao's focus on Japanese poems, 2) the preservation and spread of foreign poems, 3) Xia Cheng-Tao's acceptance of Japanese poets, which is deeply influenced by the "Historical Narrative on Japanese Composure of Poems, and 4) probe into the pluralism of Japanese ci poets and their ci poems. |
