Purpose: The purpose of present study is to explore job stress, chronic headache, depressive symptoms of nursing staffs and examine the relationship between job stress, chronic headache, and depressive symptoms. Methods: One hundred fifty nursing staffs were investigated for this study. Headache questionnaire, Taiwanese depression questionnaire and job stress questionnaire were used as research tools. Results: The results were found as follows: (1)Nursing staffs had high level of work stress and working load. Most of nurses didn't satisfy to their physical and mental health. However, most of them had good relationships with colleagues and fine level of working satisfaction. (2) Job stress was an effective predictor for depressive symptoms in nursing staffs. (3) Chronic headache and depressive symptoms were related significantly in nurse group. Conclusions: Depressive symptoms and job stress were related, and most workers who had depression symptoms also had headache problem. Chronic headache could be an important predictor of depressive symptoms in nursing staffs. |
