Writing, for Deleuze, is considered a representation of reality, a process of becoming. This is reflected in the writings of western and eastern writers who focus on the adolescent in some of their literary works. These writers describe how modern technologies confuse the adolescent of present-day; at the same time, they also try to explain to their young heroes the solution and to clarify the values of the self and identity. This demonstrates that the data processing and the technology of the mass media have changed rapidly the moral values of the individual and the society. And this rapid change produces anxiety. Therefore, this article examines the self-identity of the adolescents who are influenced by globalization and digital technology, through comparing “El comedor de patatas” of Manuel Rivas with “The Game of Man’s World” of Chi Ho Ho. |
