The purpose of this study was to explore competency model of middle management for the hospital industry; this study included secondary data analysis, experts interview and questionnaire survey methods. The purpose of this study was aimed to explore theories of the hospital industry, middle manager, and competency model development. After experts interview, five competence dimensions of the questionnaire were established as follows: managing, planning, interpersonal, expertise, and personal traits. The survey questionnaire based on secondary data analysis and the author developed expert’s opinions about competency middle of manager in the Taiwan hospital industry. 160 questionnaires were distributed to randomly select and this procedure resulted in 124 usable samples. This study reached the following conclusions: 1. The competency model of middle manager for the hospital industry in Taiwan consisted of five factors; Interpersonal & Communication, Personal traits, Planning & Guidance, Teamwork, and Technical skll. The “Human skill” was considered as the most important competence. 2. Competency models are important in building an effective human- resource system for the hospital industry. They can also help in designing university curricula to meet the hospital industry’s requirements. |
