The medication error occupies the highest incidence among all kinds of malpractices, so the primary task for reducing malpractices is to lower the incidence of medication error. However, the healthcare provider caring the patients based on their limited memories and experience. This behavior pattern may restrict their information processing abilities because of the limited memories of the healthcare provider, and may become more difficult and dangerous and even result in more mistakes when more and more information is needed to be the basis for decisionmaking. Therefore, some scholars suggested that the information technology be used to assist in medical treatments, and that the information system be used to provide the medical personnel with accurate, comprehensive and instant information for clinical decision-making. But the systems related to medicine-giving safety still lack an assertive system for the healthcare provider to identify medicines during the actual processes of medicine, and the e-learning is not widespread yet. Consequently, how to reduce the hidden troubles threatening patients' medication safety which result from the lack of man-made identification and in-service training depends on the establishment of medical knowledge database and the offering of clinical medicine identification and pharmacological information systems to assist the healthcare provider in making a decision for actual medicine identification. This research mainly discussed the medicine identification and on-line teaching evalu-ation system established by a regional hospital, finding out the achievements of this system promoting the medication safety as the references for hospitals establishing the informative system for medication safety. |
