This study attempted to view the healthy hospital organization from health promotion perspective through literature reviews. First, this study discussed the relationship between health promotion and healthy organization. Then introduced the concept, definition and evaluation criteria of healthy organization. Lastly, this study explored the development strategies of a healthy hospital organization. From health promotion perspective, a healthy organization should be a work environment that supports and encourages healthy habits from individual employees. The healthy organizational environment is composed of physical environment, social environment, management policy, resources, and health practices. So, embarking on a strategic approach to a healthy organization is a systematic and comprehensive approach. In order to further develop the hospital setting towards a healthy organization, hospitals should consider at least the following approaches: 1) build up healthy mission statement and healthy culture; 2) develop healthy organization policies on employee well-being; 3) ensure that a commitment to a healthy organization is demonstrated to employees by the supervisory levels; 4) create a support environment; and 5) empower the employee s active abilities on health promotion. |
