The purpose of this study was to explore and compare the perceptions of care quality in nursing home from the perspectives of residents, families, nurses and nursing assistants, and investigate the viewpoints among different types of nursing home hospital-based; non-affiliated city-based; non-affiliated county-based). Twelve focus groups were recruited from three different types of nursing homes in the middle Taiwan, four focus groups for each nursing home. The focus groups were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim. Transcripts were analyzed systematically by coding responses and examing for common themes according to content analysis procedures. There were five categories, 15 subcategories and 57 care indicators to describe the care quality in nursing home. The perceived care quality in nursing home among residents, families, nurses and nursing assistants were different. Nevertheless, the perceptions of care quality in nursing home for three types of nursing home were not significant difference. The results of this study may help the longterm care professionals to understand the similarity and difference of perceptions in nursing home quality between providers and receivers of care. Furthermore, the results can provide common indicators for establishing the instrument of care quality in nursing home. |
