According to literatures, the space planning including the elements such as arbor, long bench, furniture, statue, combination of dynamic and static space, green plantation and nostalgia arrangement, and adequate deployment of light and color, could create a dynamic space development plan. After the Gynecology ward’s renovation in year 2010, the overall impression was the following: long hallway, unified outlook room doors, lack of outside-view rooms, whitepale fluorescent lamp. Though clean and bright, yet the indoor atmosphere was ice-cold for the staffs and patients. Therefore, in collaboration with interior design engineer of engineering department and nursing department, an action task force was created. Deploying the trails element into the long hallway, forest style wall-size sticker design, long bench furniture, and green plant deployment provide patients with space for meditation and pressure relieving. In order to improve the hospital space impression and create the healing effect, the task force adopts special space design concepts such as deploying color and light combination in wall and ceiling decoration, and mother-child photo arrangement for nostalgia design. After the implementation of space renovation, both staff and patient satisfaction regarding to healing environment are improved. Furthermore, according to open-question patient survey, the healing environment has the effect in easing anxiety for patient’s emotional tension during the hospitalization. |
