Timely intervention to maintain the patient’s airway can improve outcome in terms of survival. The lack of appropriate puritan manual resuscitator 2 (PMR2) will affect patient outcome. The Central Supply Room (CSR) has received the information about the number of times the PMR2 was repaired and serviced in July 2007. The repair records were reviewed from September, 2007 to February, 2008. The repair rate of the PMR2 was 7.4% monthly, and the repair cost was NT 81,200 during six months. Four problems were found. First, Lack of PMR2- related management. Second, the process of exchange must be renewed to fit the needs. Third, Lack of gold standard for operation. Fourth, Lack of incentives to share. Afterward, this problembased project was designed and was done. The result were that, the repair rate of the PMR2 (1.38% monthly) and the repair cost (NT 15,600) were decreased little by little. This project can improve the quality of service and confirm patient safety. |
