Purpose: This study is to investigate the medical staffs’ understsanding about Taiwan Quality Indicator Project (TQIP) and the importance level of TQIP regarded, as well as the resulted effects in healthcare quality improvements in the hospital. The study result is expected to provide top managements in the hospital as a valuable reference. Method: Questionnaire was distributed to a medical center in southern Taiwan. Totally 377 out of 428 questionnaires were collected with a returning rate of 86.9%. Result: 1. 47.6% of medical staffs understand about the definitions in TQIP up to a certain level. However, among different job titles, obvious difference in understanding about TQIP exists. By the sampled persons, the average importance level of TQIP is 4.08 -- categorized as “important”. Same importance level is found among all medical staffs with different job positions. 2. The sampled personnel sense that the effects of the index/indicators of TQIP are “somewhat” helpful and “little” helpful in healthcare quality improvements. The priorities of carrying out TQIP are found between “moderate” priority and “high” priority. 3. Medical staffs recognize that TQIP are “somewhat” helpful and “little” helpful in elevating healthcare quality level. 4. 64.1% of medical staffs agree that TQIP index/indicators are appropriate to evaluate healthcare quality in their units/ departments. Conclusion: 1. Half of the sampled personnel do not understand TQIP up to an acceptable level. 2. More than 60% of personnel find TQIP’s index/indicators are adequate to assess the clinic quality of their units/departments. 3. Approximately 70% of units/departments find that TQIP,positively, contributes to quality improvements. 4. On the whole, sampled personnel agree that carrying out TQIP elevates clinical health care quality. |
