This article described the coping process of patients with End Stage Renal Disease. Based on the review of related literatures and the records from the nurses interactions with patients and families, the coping process were found with three stages. They were facing dialysis phase, accept dialysis, face to maintenance dialysis. In addition, nurses need to have empathy on the patient's psychological impacts when they take care the patient under dialysis treatment to deeply think of an individual's belief and value, and to help the patient understanding the impacts of dialysis. The optimal goal is to help them understand how to live with problems in their future life. |
