英文摘要 |
This article describes a nursing experience of caring for a 36-week pregnant woman with premature rupture of membranes. The patient was a new immigrant from Vietnam to Taiwan. She was admitted to the hospital to prevent miscarriage because of premature rupture of membranes. The nursing period was from April 10 to May 24, 2009. Through physical assessment, interview, and observation, the author applied Gordon's 11 functional health patterns for the patient's health assessment. Data were collected based on physical examination, interview, and observation. The identified problems were impaired ability of fetus protection, disturbance of sleep pattern, and anxiety. To decrease the patient's level of anxiety and prevent the potential risk of miscarriage, nursing interventions included providing the patient with educational material regarding premature rupture of membranes in Vietnamese introducing other Vietnamese women who had similar experiences to the patient to share experiences, and encouraging the patient to express internal thoughts with active listening. The author expects this to be a useful article for other nurses caring for patients with a similar diagnosis and background. |
