Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the common complications in patients with cerebrovascular attack. The cause of urinary tract infection is most associated with the placement of the urinary catheter. Therefore, nurses caring for patients with cerebrovascular attack need to understand the anatomical structure of the urinary tract, procedures of using urinary catheter, and care highlights. Moreover, assessment for proper use of urinary catheter and effective removal decrease the occurrence of UTI and reduce the costs of taskforce and care expenses. in prevention of UTI, nurses must understand the symptoms of UTI, diagnostic data, and the principles of treatment. Through sound medical and nursing managements, minimizing patient discomfort and occurrence of complication and maximizing care effectiveness in patients with cerebrovascular attack can be achieved. |
