It has become commonplace to state that the teaching of culture should not be alienated from language teacher education. Teaching culture has played a critical role in the construction of many CSL teacher education programs. Moreover, the issue of culture competence should be clarified and developed for CSL teachers. The aim of this study is to stress on the one hand the significance of cross-cultural competence. And on the other, it argues for a development of such competence in CSL teacher education. It is argued that professional preparation programs for CSL teachers can enable teachers to become more competent in CSL teaching and research by developing their cross-cultural competence. |
