City is not only a sign of geography but also the cumulative historical memory and culture. Therefore, when people interpret the city, the implication of the city behind is inseparable from the cultural view point. From Western Han Dynasty to the Eastern Han Dynasty, the comments on choosing the location of the capital actually not only lie on the location of choice, but also the recognition of cultural orientation and choice. That Western Han picked Chang'an as its capital was based on the consideration of cultural background and significance, and even the nature of political power and administration. Eastern Han Dynasty moved its capital to Luoyang. Such act implies the cultural meaning of 'moving the capital and restructuring'. The selection of a capital indeed reflects the sign of an optimized process among the historical, cultural and political nature. A series of Fu-work themed on the capital provides a portal in investigating the Eastern Han Dynasty. |
