The Song Dynasty is a tea culture flourishing dynasty. Su Shi, representative of the Northern Song Dynasty scholars, had a full understanding and appreciation of tea. Thus, Su Shi produced a plethora of great works of tea literature. However, for years most research on Su Shi’s works of tea literature has been concentrated on tea politics, tea Tao, tea culture, tea health, and tea aesthetics as well as the research into the form and skills of literary creativity. A comprehensive study of Su Shi’s works of tea literature concerning exchange of ideas and views has never been explored and therefore there is room for further exploration. In accordance with thematic texts, this paper focused on Su Shi’s exchange of ideas and views in his works of tea literature. Regarding the research versions, tea poems were based on the collection of Su Shi poems elaborated by Kong Fan Li; tea cis (a type of lyric poetry) were based on the chronicle of Su Shi cis interpreted by Zou Tong Qing and Wang Zong Tang; and tea articles were based on the collection of Su Shi articles explicated by Kong Fan Li. In addition to an introduction and a conclusion, the paper surveyed the exchange of ideas and views in Su Shi’s tea poems, tea cis, and tea articles respectively. |
