This study investigates perceptions of employer image on organizational attractiveness among 336 potential applicants who are seeking to change jobs. The instrumental-symbolic framework was applied to conceptualize the key dimensions of an employer image. We also examine the relative importance of instrumental image attributes and symbolic image traits. Results showed that instrumental image attributes (power, work conditions, and job security) and symbolic image traits (trustworthiness, innovativeness, dominance, and thrift) significantly predict organizational attractiveness in the industry of Technology Information in Taiwan. Relative importance analyses showed that symbolic image traits explain more variance of organizational attractiveness than instrumental image attributes do. |
