The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among positive mentality, sense of meaning of life, and life satisfaction of the elementary school special education teachers in Kaohsiung City. The data were collected by means of a questionnaire. The research tools included: the Positive Mentality Scale, the Sense of Meaning of Life Scale, and Life Satisfaction Scale of the elementary school special education teachers in Kaohsiung City. Through purposeful sampling, 231 teachers were selected. In total, 217 validly completed questionnaires were returned indicating a valid response rate of 93.94%.The date were analyzed with the statistical software included Descriptive, t-Test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation, And Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. The research findings were summed up as follows: the Positive Mentality Scale, the Sense of Meaning of Life Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale of the elementary school special education teachers in Kaohsiung City tended to be above means. The Positive Mentality Scale scores were significant different, based on differences of years of service and class types. The Sense of Meaning of Life Scale scores were significant different, based on differences of age. The Life Satisfaction Scale scores were significant different, based on differences of sex, age, marital status, and years of service. The elementary school special education teachers with higher positive mentality had better sense of meaning of life and life satisfaction. In fact, their higher scores on positive mentality and sense of meaning of life could predict their life satisfaction. According to the results and conclusions of this study, the author proposed some suggestions to the education authorities, school administrators, the elementary school special education teachers, and for further research. |
