治療白血病扶正第一

Complementary Treatment of Leukemia

白血病是一難治的病，且中醫典籍中並無所謂“白血症”的病名。現代醫學治療白血症均用化學療法或骨髓移植，但化學療法副作用甚劇。茲報告一女姓白血病患者治驗案例。該病人經西醫確診為「急性單核球骨髓性白血症」，並接受化學治療，白血球數及血小板劇減，病況危急。經用金匱黃土湯加減，終於恢復健康。茲記其治療經過，列處方，並加以討論。

Modern medicine can treat leukemia, but the methods it uses-chemotherapy and marrow transplants-have severely debilitating side effects on the patient’s health. Because of this, leukemia remains a fatal disease. The present report is the case study of a female patient diagnosed as suffering from acute monocytic myeloid leukemia, who was given Chinese medical treatment as a adjunct to modern therapy. Following chemotherapy, the patient showed a great decrease in her white blood cell count and platelets and left her in a critical condition. She was then gradually restored to health with variant forms of Yellow Earth Decoction (huang tu tang), a formula from Priceless Prescriptions of the Golden Coffer (jin gui yao lue). This report describes The course of treatment and the formulas used, and provides a commentary on the therapeutic strategy.
