The purpose of this study was to understand parents' compliance-gaining strategies and influential factors. Seven parents were subjects who owned more than ten-year child-rearing experience. In-depth interview was adopted to collect data. Data was analyzed by open-coding method. The main findings were as follows:1. The taxonomic system of parents' compliance-gaining strategies was found, including 14 items of strategies which contained 42 categories.2. Deeply into cultural-social texture, the results found parents' compliance-gaining strategies which did show unique characteristic of traction and progressing.3. By in-depth interview method, the result did dig up more kinds of compliance-gaining strategies.4. There are nineteen factors which can influence parents' compliance-gaining strategies, including individual differences of children, parents-children relationship, parents' linking and disliking, situational differences, children's' behaviors which parent paid attention to, the pattern of mistakes, compliance-resistance responses of children, parents' perception of consequence, the perception of strategies effect, the attribution of causality, the view-point from which parents evaluated themselves, the view points from which parents evaluated their children, parents' thinking and transcending on the old strategies, parents' philosophy of life, parents' hope for children, the experience of original family, parents passing experience, what children meant to parents, and parents' belief in child-rearing method.Based upon the above mentioned results, discussions and suggestion were presented. |
