Needs Assessment Scale of Psychosocial Development for College Student, composed of five items representing each of Chickering (1978) seven vectors, adopted from Evans (1985). The subjects consisted of 2 students from eight institutions responding to this survey. The value of the test-retest reliability coefficient (three week interval) was .751 (N=85), the value of internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's α) was .945 (N=342). The value of concurrent validity (correlation with ego identity scale) was -.21 (N=85), which indicated that college student with lower ego identity core has the higher needs of Chickering's seven vectors development. The seven factors of the factor analysis of this scale almost conform to the theory construct of Chickering's seven vectors development. The validity of this scale was relevant. |
