Due to transnational marriages, an increasing number of recent women immigrants from Southeast Asian had affected Taiwan’s demographic structures. Statistical data provided by the Ministry of Interior presented that approximately one out of four marriages in Taiwan were transnational marriage. Among these immigrants, Vietnamese women immigrants had been the second largest immigrants group in Taiwan since 1996. However, the literatures about the healthcare needs of Vietnamese women immigrants in Taiwan, especially the ones on measures and interventions from their cultural perspective, remain insufficient. The purpose of this paper was to introduce the cultural leverage model and to demonstrate how to use this model to care for Vietnamese women immigrants’ health needs in Taiwan. In conclusion, the healthcare providers need to be concerned not only with Vietnamese women immigrants’ illness but also in providing culturally sensitive and appropriate healthcare. |
