The purpose of this research was to explore quality of life for patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and non-BPPV. Using purposive sampling, we recruited 32 BPPV patients and 32 non-BPPV patients who were over 18 years old from an otolaryngology clinic in a medical center. Patients were evaluated using the Chinese version of the short-form 36-item health survey (SF-36), and the data were analyzed using SPSS 10.0. Results revealed that the quality of life for patients with BPPV was in the middle range, significantly lower than for the non-BPPV group. The physical and mental health dimensions for the BPPV group were also signifi cantly lower than for the non-BPPV group. This study establishes a reference for nursing care to improve the quality of life for BPPV patients. |
