The benefit of infant massage to infants' and parents' health has been shown on many studies. It improves physical growth, fosters behavioural changes, and decreases infant stress. In addition, it facilitates parents' roles and functions, reinforces attachment and interactions between babies and parents. Infant massage is not just a kind of physical touch; it also satisfi es basic human need, which acts as a way of communication, strengthens relationship and conveyance of love. Community nurses can apply infant massage in daily nursing practice. Infant massage can be viewed as a kind of nursing intervention in the community to promote health of parents and infants. This article introduces the defi nition, needs and function, and application of infant massage in community nursing to help nurses better understand and apply it in health promotion in family nursing practice.
