This case report describes the perioperative nursing of a patient suffering from a pelvic fracture with external skeletal fixation. During the nursing period from May 29, 2004 to June 13, 2004, Orem’s theory and a perioperative nursing care model were used to assess the problems of acute pain, anxiety, potential risk of infection, lack of knowledge and potential dangers during the perioperative period. During the process of caring for this patient, the author designed nursing programs to cover different scenarios. This was in order to facilitate the patient surviving the surgery and the process of disability safely, and to nurture self-care, and so successfully proceed to recovery. |
