Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) of psychology was developed 2000 years ago, and the development of which was divided into 6 periods. It originated in Neijing, and reached its peak in the Yuan Dynasty, when Zhang zihe accomplished his famous monograph: Ru Men Shi Qin. Modern TCM psychology began its development in the 1980’s, and owing to the world medicine’s shift toward the bio-psycho-social model, it grew rapidly. As TCM psychology demonstrates the characteristics of TCM, it has been one of the most active and rapidly growing branches in the cross-fields between TCM and psychology. In the current century, TCM psychology has grown in breadth and diversity. National and international TCM conferences have been held 12 times. Research on the “fear genes” is one the forefront of science, and TCM has demonstrated applications in various clinical fields, e.g., disaster prevention, Qi-gong, and acupuncture. Currently TCM has reached HongKong, Macao, Taiwan, and even Japan, Europe and the U.S.. In the future, the applications of TCM can be even broader, and the research and teaching of this new subject can be extended to different parts of the world. |
