This paper reviewed the history of child clinical psychology in Taiwan from practice, education/training, and research perspectives. In sum, there are three major issuses in practicing, namely; the inadequacy of child clinical psychologists in hospital, lack of supervision, and work over loading. In the area of education and training, lecturers with the expertise in child clinical psychology are not adequate. This resulted in great difficulty to maintain a suitable program of child clinical psychology in universities. We therefore suggest that Taiwan Association of Clinical Psychology may play a crucial role in solving these problems by integrating related resources as a long-term plan. Furthermore, in current study, we surveyed the topics of master theses and doctor dissertations in child clinical psychology. Based on this result, we emphasize the necessity and importance of setting up a database in the future. |
