Many patients, particularly those who had been in general anesthesia, occurred shivering resulting from hypothermia while they were sent to recovery room after anesthesia. Although shivering was not a life-threatening complication, its effects on discomfort, oxygen consumption, cardiopulmonary function damage and related nursing interventions required further research. For this reason, combined both of a literature review and the author’s clinical experiences, this article discusses related concepts of mechanism and pathophysiologic changes and the impacts on pyschophysiological status of shivering causing by hypothermia after general anesthesia. Meanwhile, this article attempts to provide an applicable suggestion to related nursing intervention, and a reference for planning nursing care for patients who have similar symptoms in the future as an ultimate goal. |
