This report described an experience of nursing care for a 16 year-old adolescent having a stroke when attending a tug-of-war activity in the school, then receiving rehabilitation therapy in the hospital due to the occurrence of right limb movement and verbal expression dysfunctions. During the period of nursing care, from February 11, 2008 to March 29, 2008, the author collected the information through interview and observation of the case. The Roy’s adaptation theory was used to analyze the information. Finally, we found that the case had problems such as “dysfunction of physical activity”, “disturbance of verbal communication” and “defect of social interaction”. During the period of nursing care, the authors helped the case to do whole-skeletal exercise by himself and drew up the rehabilitation plan and verbal training. The authors also assisted the patient with reconstructing a new peer relationship through connecting with the social workers or volunteers in the hospital and made the case adapt to the new life. It is hoped that this nursing care experience can provide the nursing staff as a reference when taking care of such cases. |
