Ventilator-associated pneumonia is a type of pneumonia occurring in a person who has been assisted by mechanical ventilation over 48 hours. It is a serious and life-threatening nosocomial infection. Nurses need basic and advanced knowledge and skills to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia for patients with ventilator support. The purpose of this article offers a brief exploration of the risk factors, clinical assessment, and prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia. The optimal goal is to promote quality of care for patient. |
