This article reported the nursing experience of a myasthenia gravis patient after receiving thymoectomy. During the post-operation period, the patient was assessed with systemic observation and interviewed by applying the Gorden’s 11 functional health patterns to identify nursing problems. The major problems included ineffective airway clearance, pain, disturbance sleep pattern, and anxiety. Nursing care included promoting sputum drainage to keep respiratory hygiene, combining with relaxation skill to relief pain, and providing knowledge to increase self-care ability. By sharing this nursing experience, we hope that the quality of caring similar patients can be improved. |
