This article described the nursing experience for a 45 years olds female with cervical injury after operation. The duration of nursing care by author was between June 2 and June 11, 2004. The method of data collection included directive care, initiative caring, and professional observation. Based on Roy’s adaptation model, the author assessed four dimensions of the patient, including physical mode, self concept mode, role performance mode, and interdependence mode. There were three major problems identified, including impaired physical mobility, sensory perceptual alterations, and powerlessness. Nursing care plans were designed to instruct patient doing passive exercise, assist the patient with daily activities, maintain her skin integrity, and reconstruct her self-esteem. This report shared the experience of caring for spinal cord injured patients. |
