Sleep Problems in the Elderly

睡眠是維持健康的基本要素，亦影響個人之安適狀態與生活品質，然多數老人卻抱怨有睡眠問題，為能改善老人睡眠品質，護理人員應瞭解老人的睡眠特性，以釐清其係正常老化或是病理狀態，進而提供有效之照護措施。

Sleep is an essential component of health which affects well-being and quality of life. However, many elders have sleep problems. To improve sleep quality for the elderly, nurses must have knowledge about age-related sleep pattern changes and be able to distinguish normal changes from those changes occurring with medical illness. Such knowledge provides a basis for nurses to provide effective sleep promotion strategies.
