A Study of the Product Serialization Design

我們經常可以在市售產品的廣告中聽到或看到所謂系列化之產品，雖然產品系列化方式並不相同，但從許多的案例中可以發現，產品系列化確實給廠商帶來很大的商業利益。本研究首先將可能的系列化方式及作法予以歸類，再以此種分類方式將所收集包含1997-1998年間我國廠商所生產系列化產品期刊及型錄之產品歸類。此外也進行相關人員之深入訪談，以確認我國各產業別系列化之方式，以及瞭解他們當初進行產品系列化之目的。研究結果發現：1.我國各產業採用之產品系列化方式共有風格系列、盒裝系列、成套系列、可更換系列、世代系列、共用造型系列、改款系列、花色變化系列等八種，其中以改款系列與花色變化系列應用最為普遍，而可更換系列與盒裝系列較少被採用。2.各產業別所採用之系列方式因某些產業別之特性、公司體質及經營重點之考量而不盡相同。3.歸納出各產品系列化方式之使用時機與特色。

We often see the serialization products in advertisements. The fact that manufacturers created a great deal of commercial benefits through product serialization had been found in several cases. This research first classified the possible types of product serialization. Then the serialization products made by Taiwanese industries collected from the magazine and catalogue in 1997 and 1998 were categorized according to these classifications. Besides, several in-depth interviews were conducted to confirm the classifications as well as to understand their main purposes of the product serializations. The results of the research are 1. Style serialization, packing-in-a-box serialization, package serialization, changeable serialization, generation change serialization, sharing same form serialization, style modification serialization and pattern change serialization are adopted in Taiwanese industries. Style modification serialization and pattern change serialization are the most popularly adopted while changeable serialization and packing-in-a-box serialization are scarcely adopted. 2. The different industries adopt the different types of product serializations according to the considerations of the industry's characteristics, company's nature and management interests. 3. The purposes of each product serialization are defined.
